Ballistix Display team was formed in 2009 and it currently has gymnasts from 9 to 25 years old. 2 of our male coaches joined the team last year. The display team trains 4 hours per week and works on choreography, balances and gerneral gymnastics skills.
They enter into GymFest which is an annual gymnastics display event run by Scottish Gymnastics. It is a non-competitive, professionally run display festival which aims to promote gymnastics for all.
The Magnum Centre Irvine is the current home to GymFest and each year approximately 1500 gymnasts, 200 coaches, 50 volunteers and 4000 spectators literally invade the Magnum Centre over the first bank holiday in May, to take part in what has become the UK’s premier gymnastics display festival. The festival is getting bigger and better each year and we would encourage everyone to come along and watch the spectacular performances.
GymFest has become tremendously popular with very high demand for the limited number of places. To offer an alternative opportunity for teams who may not have been able to perform at GymFest Irvine, GymFest Perth was founded. Held in Bell's Sports Centre on the 31st October 2010, GymFest Perth was been a great success for the second time. With teams travelling from locations as diverse as Inverness and Hereford a great Halloween day was had all round. Perth GymFest 2011 is planned for October 30th at Bell's sports centre once again. |
